The Minnesota Board of Psychology (Board) is excited to host its 2014 Continuing Education Conference, “Forging a Path through Change” on Thursday, May 15, 2014. This is a FREE event and qualifies for 7 CEU’s. The intended audience is licensed psychologists, applicants for licensure and individuals interested in the changing landscape for the practice of psychology in Minnesota. Attendance for the conference is being offered on-site at the University of Minnesota Continuing Education Conference Center in St. Paul or via live webcast.

Telepsychology

Drs. Smucker-Barnwell and Adams Larsen will provide practical guidance to psychologists interested in delivering psychological services through technology. Attendees will also be exposed to key legal and ethical issues to consider when using technology in clinical practice.

Ethics

Board members and staff will share with participants the most frequently occurring ethical dilemmas and detail real life scenarios within the practice of psychology through the examination of a complaint. Attendees will develop strategies to approach ethical challenges within clinical and forensic practice.

Competency Assessment

Dr. Schaffer's presentation will focus on the idea that qualification for licensure could be based on hands-on assessment of competencies in addition to traditional test formats such as the EPPP. He will discuss essential competencies for psychological practice and how these might be assessed to determine qualification for licensure.
